What is RCIA?

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the process by which adults are welcomed into the Catholic Church. Through RCIA, participants explore the Catholic faith and prepare to receive the sacraments of initiation: Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist.

Who is RCIA for?

RCIA is for:

• Adults who have never been baptized and wish to become Catholic
• Adults who were baptized in another Christian tradition and wish to enter full communion with the Catholic Church
• Baptized Catholics who have not received Confirmation and/or First Eucharist
• Anyone seeking to learn more about the Catholic faith

The RCIA Journey

The RCIA process follows a gradual journey of faith formation that typically spans several months:

Inquiry Period

A time for asking questions and learning about the basics of the Catholic faith. There is no commitment required during this stage.

Catechumenate

A period of deeper formation in Catholic teaching, prayer, and community life. Participants explore Scripture, the Creed, Catholic traditions, and moral teaching.

Purification and Enlightenment

Coinciding with Lent, this is a time of intense spiritual preparation leading up to the Easter Vigil.

Sacraments of Initiation

At the Easter Vigil, candidates receive the sacraments of Baptism (if not already baptized), Confirmation, and Eucharist, entering into full communion with the Catholic Church.

Mystagogy

Following the Easter Vigil, new Catholics continue to deepen their understanding of the faith and their participation in parish life.

RCIA in Our Parish

Our parish offers RCIA sessions that provide a welcoming environment for those exploring the Catholic faith. Sessions typically begin in autumn and conclude at the Easter Vigil. We encourage anyone interested to contact the parish office to learn more.
