This special moment marks the beginning of a lifelong journey of faith, where your child is embraced by God's love and becomes a member of the Christian community.
About Baptism
Baptism is the first sacrament of initiation into the Catholic Church. Through baptism, we are freed from sin and reborn as children of God, becoming members of Christ and incorporated into the Church.
Infant Baptism
Parents wishing to have their child baptised should contact the parish office to arrange a baptism preparation session.
Requirements:
- At least one parent must be a practicing Catholic
- Parents must attend a baptism preparation session
- At least one godparent must be a confirmed, practicing Catholic
- Birth certificate of the child
Adult Baptism
Adults seeking baptism should inquire about our RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) program. This program prepares adults to receive the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist.
Baptism Dates
Baptisms are celebrated by arrangement. Please contact the parish office to schedule a baptism.
Baptism Preparation Information
Welcome! We are pleased and honoured that you are considering for your child to be baptised in the Para Hills Modbury Catholic Parish. We look forward to supporting your family as you raise your child in the Catholic faith, to know God and experience God's love in this community.
If you are from another parish, you need written permission from the parish priest or the
pastoral director and there needs to be confirmation about whether, as parents, you have
participated in a preparation session.
Preparation
So that you will feel at home when you bring your child to be baptised, participation in a 90-minute session to prepare your family for this special occasion is required. The session is on the third Sunday of the month at 11:30 a.m. in the St John XXIII Meeting Room.
